Mono Sodium Glutamate

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)

The sodium salt of glutamic acid is monosodium glutamate (MSG), sometimes known as sodium glutamate. MSG in this glutamic acid form is naturally found in various foods, including tomatoes and cheese. MSG is used in cooking as a flavour enhancer with an umami flavour that increases the meaty, savoury flavour of food, similar to how naturally occurring glutamate does in stews and meat soups.

Handling and Storage : Mono Sodium Glutamate

Keep in an airtight container. If you spill this chemical, dampen the solid spill material with water before transferring it to an appropriate receptacle. To pick up any residual particles, use moistened absorbent paper.

Mono Sodium Glutamate Structure

Monosodium glutamate is a white to off-white crystalline powder with a peptone-like odour. (NTP,White, virtually odourless crystals or crystalline powder) pH (0.2% solution)7.0

Industries where Mono Sodium Glutamate is used

Manufacturers and researchers in the industrial sector keep coming up with new ideas for using Mono Sodium Glutamate. At present, this organic compound is used as:

  1. A naturally occurring amino acid that is used as a flavour enhancer, swine feed additive, and addition to improve the taste of bitter medications. Used to treat high blood ammonia levels.
  2. flavour enhancer
  3. Medication Has been used to treat hyperammonemia in diseases such as hepatic encephalopathy.
  4. One of the Flavouring agents used to provide a meaty taste. It has been used in medicine to treat ammoniacal azotemia, hepatic coma, psychosis, and mental retardation.
